    The main focus of our surgery department are operations of inguinal hernias or abdominal wall hernias. In Wilhelmsburg Hospital Groß-Sand we help more than 1.300 Patients suffering from hernias a year. We are world-wide known for our special surgery technique called MILOS that we developed here in Hamburg. MILOS is extremely successful and can be used for any abdominal hernia as well as rectus diastasis.

    Since 2017 we are cooperating with the Marienhospital in Hamburg as a Centre for emergency and acute medicine. With one emergency room in two locations the patient can have emergency treatment in his hometown and increased quality. Together we have a wider variety of specialists as one Hospital alone.

    Orthopaedics

    Artificial hip joint, artificial knee joint – our department of orthopedics performs all kinds of joint replacements. Furthermore, Groß-Sand Hospital is one of the few hospitals in Hamburg that offer revision surgery in case of problems with an already implanted prosthesis. In cooperation with the geriatric department we are also specialized for the orthopedic treatment of elderly patients.

    Anaesthetics & Intensive Care

    In our hospital, we perfom more than 2500 Operations yearly, accompanied and monitored by our department for anesthesia and intensive care. Our experienced specialists will take care of your safety during all of your surgeries or medical tests which take part under anesthesia. The intensive care unit of Groß-Sand Hospital has space for ten patients.

    In our internistic department we treat patients with acute or chronic diseases of the inner organs. The main focus is the endoscopic diagnosis and therapy of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. In our in 2017 established stomach center gastroentologists and surgeons cooperate closely in order to find the right diagnosis and treatments as quick as possible.

    Geriatrics

    Groß-Sand Hospital is well known for the geriatric department. A very important part of our work is the early rehabilitation of the elderly patients after diseases or operations – our aim is to bring you back home very soon. We also offer neurological rehabilitation for patients suffering from strong neurological diseases or injuries.
